Yom Tov Samia

Yom Tov Samia is a seasoned entrepreneur now focusing on development and strategic consulting in energy, real-estate, infrastructure, and academic lecturing in business leadership, Sociology and Sustainability.

Prior to joining the private sector, Dr. Samia served in the Israeli Defense Forces (1972-2001) for 29 years, in all command positions from Platoon leader where he ended his service as a 2 stars Major General and commander of the Southern Command.

Upon leaving the IDF, Dr. Samia went on to become President and CEO of The Baran Group, an International EPCM Group with annual income of $300M, the largest planning and engineering group in Israel. Yom Tov was also director and chairman of the investment committees for three pension funds of the Harel Insurance Group. Earlier in his career, Dr. Samia founded YAM-Deshers, a real estate & Strategists consulting service with a presence in Israel, USA, and Spain, commanding a $25M project in Manhattan.

Dr. Samia currently serves as a member of the board of trustees of Ben-Gurion University since 1999, at the Israel Strategic Dialogue Center at Netanya Academic College since 2002, and research fellow at the CTI (Counter Terrorism Institute) since 2015.

Among other Pro-Bono and services for the community Dr. Samia established, in 1999, The Givati Family, a non-profit organization that takes care of the bereaved families of the Givati Brigade.  Dr. Samia is also the President of "ZIV NEHURIM", a non-profit organization that takes care of endangered youth and provides them with a chance to fulfill their potential.

Since he was 17 years old has been an avid athlete. Yom Tov has run half marathons, biked 600 miles from Germany to Italy in the Tour TransAlp, and holds the Olympic Triathlon as a guiding philosophy for life where one plans, works hard, challenges themselves, studies the lessons that emerge from the experience, and does it all over again. 

Dr. Samia received his BA from the Tel-Aviv University as well as and MA in Political Sciences and a Ph.D. in Sociology and Political Science from Haifa University.
