Academy Award-Winning Actor MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY is a voice of inspiration, empowerment and some much-needed humor amid these challenging times. He's delivered a virtual commencement address to the class of 2020, shared a virtual message of hope to the world via Good Morning America, regularly provides practical (yet engaging) coronavirus health advice through his Instagram, and even hosted virtual bingo for senior citizens. Most profoundly he interviewed Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and face of America's Coronavirus recovery. McConaughey also launched a new Instagram series during quarantine, "McConaughey Takes," in which he takes viewers behind-the-scenes of his movies. As McConaughey said in one of his recent virtual messages, "There is a green light on the other side of this red light that we're in right now, and I believe that green light is going to be built on the values that we enact right now-- values of fairness, kindness, accountability, resilience, respect, courage..." In his new book, Greenlights, McConaughey writes what he calls a love letter to life taking readers on a journey of lessons he grappled with hoping that anyone who reads it will reconnect with grace, truth, and beauty of life, even when it's brutal.

A chance meeting in Austin with casting director and producer Don Phillips led him to director Richard Linklater, who launched the actor’s career in the cult classic “Dazed and Confused.” Since then, he has won an Academy Award for his portrayal of Ron Woodruff in "Dallas Buyers Club", appeared in over 40 feature films that have grossed over $1 billion; and has become a producer, director, and philanthropist with his just keep livin Foundation – all the while sticking to his Texas roots and “jk livin” philosophy. McConaughey also serves as creative director for Wild Turkey and has co-created his own bourbon, Longbranch. He serves as Minister of Culture/M.O.C. for the University of Texas Athletic Department and The Austin FC Soccer Club, where he is part owner. He currently resides in Austin, Texas with his wife Camilla and their three kids, while he is a professor at the University of Texas in Austin.
