Bobby Flay Speaks About Taking Chances, Saying 'Yes,' and Creating a Business Empire

Before BOBBY FLAY was the well-known name he is today, he was an ambitious young chef steadily growing his presence in New York City’s restaurant scene and racking up prestigious accolades, such as New York Magazine critic Gael Greene’s 1992 “Restaurant of the Year” designation for his restaurant Mesa Grill.

Flay’s ascent to culinary superstardom was accelerated when he took a chance on the then-fledgling 24-hour food channel, the Food Network. In an interview with INC, he explained that his decision to participate on the network was driven by a desire to showcase his brand and restaurant - and the rest is history. Flay went on to host 16 cooking shows and specials for both the Food Network and the Cooking Channel, and launched 27 more restaurants, employing over 1,500 people.

Flay’s career is a testament to the power of ‘yes’ and taking smart, calculated risks. A consummate speaker, Flay is eager to meet audiences and share personal stories and business insights. After hearing Flay speak, audiences walk away with an understanding of how to mix passion and business to create success.
