Anna Wintour is one of the most influential leaders in modern media. For more than thirty years, she has led Vogue and Condé Nast, demonstrating an uncommon ability to read the cultural and commercial moment. As a speaker, Ms. Wintour talks from the vantage point of someone who has spent decades making consequential decisions and steadying institutions through disruption.

Her name signals authority and discernment. That judgment extended beyond publishing, transforming the Met Gala into a global philanthropic engine and raising more than $400 million for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her work also spans public health and philanthropy, including long-standing advocacy in the fight against HIV and AIDS, recognized by the American Foundation for AIDS Research, and her role as Co-Founder of the Center for Youth Mental Health.

Biography

Dame Anna Wintour CH DBE has led Vogue for over 37 years. She began as editor in chief of Vogue in July 1988, and was named U.S. Artistic Director of Condé Nast in March 2013. She was appointed Global Content Advisor of Condé Nast in August of 2019. Currently, she holds the positions of Chief Content Officer of Condé Nast and Global Editorial Director of Vogue.

During her tenure at Condé Nast, Ms. Wintour has been actively involved in philanthropic fundraising, particularly for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, for which she has raised more than $400 million for the museum. She serves as an Elective Trustee of the institution. She is also a Founding Committee Member for the Center for Youth Mental Health, which was founded to address the epidemic of mental health issues experienced by young people today.

In 2017, for her service to British journalism and fashion, Ms. Wintour was named Dame Commander (DBE) of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II. In 2011, she was awarded the Légion d’Honneur by French President Nicolas Sarkozy. In October 2009, President Obama appointed Ms. Wintour to the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities. She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Biden in January 2025, and received a Companion of Honor (CH) by His Majesty King Charles III in February 2025.

She has been the recipient of numerous awards for her leadership and charitable efforts, including the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Award of Courage for AIDS Research from the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amFAR)
