Ron Fair is a true giant of the modern music industry — a Grammy-nominated producer, arranger, executive, and A&R visionary whose fingerprints are on some of the most iconic artists and recordings of the past 50 years.

Fair has launched, shaped, and revived the careers of megastars including Christina Aguilera ("Beautiful", "What a Girl Wants"), Mary J. Blige ("Be Without You"), The Black Eyed Peas ("Where Is the Love?"), Fergie ("Big Girls Don’t Cry"), Queen Latifah, The Pussycat Dolls, Nicole Scherzinger, Darren Criss, Keyshia Cole and Fantasia — to name just a few. His influence extends across genres, from working with Snow Patrol and Bastille to developing major projects for Lang Lang, Jonny Lang, The O’Jays, and even rock legends like Slayer. His soundtracks for blockbuster films like Pretty Woman, Reality Bites, and Dumb and Dumber have become cultural touchstones.

Beyond his studio achievements, Fair held leadership roles at some of the industry's most influential labels — serving as Chairman of Geffen Records, President of A&M Records, and Chief Creative Officer at Virgin Records — and played key roles at RCA, EMI, Chrysalis, and Island Records. He began his career assisting Oscar-winning composer Bill Conti on the now-legendary Rocky film score, giving him a foundation that spans both popular music and film.

Fair's knowledge isn't just historical — it's transformational. He has shaped how the modern music business discovers, nurtures, and promotes talent on a global scale. Biography

Ron Fair’s career spans five decades - as a major-label veteran, an acclaimed multi-Grammy-nominated producer, arranger, recording engineer, musical director and A&R Executive. Fair was previously Chairman, Geffen Records; President, A&M Records; and Chief Creative Officer/Executive Vice President, Virgin Records. He held senior A & R positions at RCA Records, Chrysalis Records, EMI Records, and Island Records-London.

Ron Fair was born and raised in Los Angeles. He met his mentor in 1976, Oscar-winning composer - Bill Conti. As Conti’s assistant, Fair was awarded his first-of-many gold records - the original soundtrack to the classic film ROCKY.

Fair’s recordings have won six Grammy® awards and have been nominated a dozen times. Fair discovered and shepherded Christina Aguilera’s career - supervised her first five albums, selling over 50 million copies, winning multiple Grammys and international awards as well as selling out numerous stadium tours.

Fair championed the Black Eyed Peas to 27 million albums, 4 number-ones and multiple Grammy wins, while co-producing and arranging the orchestra on their global breakthrough # 1 hit “Where is The Love?” Fair produced and A&R’d the Pussycat Dolls four-million-selling Grammy-nominated debut album, yielding several international number-one singles and successful worldwide tours.

As an A&R Executive at RCA Records, Fair discovered and signed Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson in the girl-trio Wild Orchid. Later, as President of A&M, Fair re-united with Fergie when she joined the Black Eyed Peas, leading to her own 5-million-selling Grammy-nominated solo album “The Duchess,” with three number one singles including “Big Girls Don’t Cry.”

Fair was co-producer of Mary J. Blige’s #1 hit “Be Without You”– charting 18 weeks at number-one R & B, five weeks at number one Hot 100, winning three Grammys, and achieving over 10 million album sales. He co-produced “Lady Marmalade” (Christina Aguilera, Pink, Mya, Lil’ Kim) the international multi-week number-one from Baz Luhrman’s “Moulin Rouge” - selling over 3 million soundtrack albums.

Fair brought Snow Patrol to the USA, selling a million-plus albums on the back of the number-one hit “Chasing Cars.” He developed and produced Grammy nominee and triple-platinum vocalist Keyshia Cole- yielding six number-one R&B tracks, and produced a hit BET reality show The Way It Is. Fair executive produced Keyshia Cole’s Lifetime bio-pic I Am Keyshia Cole and is also portrayed in the film. 

Ron Fair guided Vanessa Carlton to a double-platinum Grammy-nominated debut album-producing and arranging her number-1 hit “A Thousand Miles.” He was executive producer of the 11-million-selling soundtrack Pretty Woman and the 5-million-selling soundtrack Reality Bites. He produced Fantasia’s chart-topping Grammy-nominated album “The Definition Of.”  Fair spearheaded the US breakthrough of UK band Bastille, their hit “Pompeii” selling over three million copies topping the Billboard charts.

Some of his recent work includes producing Lang Lang’s epic “The Disney Book” and music producer for Lang Lang’s Disney+ special with the Royal Philharmonic at the Albert Hall in London; Idina Menzel’s “Christmas, A Season of Love,” “A Very Darren Crissmas,” Clay Aiken’s “Christmas Bells Are Ringing,”  Keyshia Cole’s “No Love Lost” from The Color Purple soundtrack, and most recently new tracks by country artist Runaway June. 

Fair was placed on the Honor Roll of the esteemed British Manager’s Forum where he was recognized for international contributions to British Music. He has served on the both the Board of National Trustees and Board of Governors of NARAS, home of the Grammys. He is a five-decade member of the American Federation of Musicians; and former adjunct professor of pop music at Lipscomb University. Fair’s many speaking engagements include Nashville’s Society of Leaders In Development; USC Thornton School of Music, UCLA Extension, Artlist-Tel Aviv, LAAMP, Musexpo, New Music Seminar, and many others.  

Fair has worked in Los Angeles, New York, London, and Nashville. Known as a genre-hopping polymath- the artists he worked with run the gamut from seminal death-metal originators SLAYER to Andrea Bocelli to the O’Jays to Lit to Macy Gray…. He has appeared as a regular in television series in Canada, The USA and Israel, as well as conducting, arranging, and inspiring artists across the globe.  

“Faircraft Studios” is in Music Row - the heart of the music scene. Ron Fair’s wife and four teen-age kids (along with a little white dog – “Mr. Big”) currently reside in Nashville.
