A businessman, educator and former adviser to his father’s campaigns, Matthew Lieberman draws on his father’s storied career and his experience in the private sector over the past two decades to offer insight into today's political climate. He writes a regular email newsletter with tens of thousands of readers on the Substack platform – The Lieberman Files, and is a frequent contributor on Newsmax TV. 

Matthew served as Senior Advisor and national surrogate on the Gore-Lieberman campaign in 2000, and played a similar role in 2003-2004 on the Lieberman for President campaign. He advised his father on all campaign matters, raised money, and appeared in front of groups large and small, as well as on local and national media, on behalf of the campaigns. 

In 2007 Matt started Compass Benefits, Inc., a group benefits consultancy that works with large employers and unions to offer best in class benefits programs. He has built Compass Benefits into a trusted advisor for leading corporations, banks, law firms, and unions. 

In 2020, Matt led Raphael Warnock all the way into September in the Democratic contest to face Kelly Loeffler for one of Georgia's two US Senate seats – despite the Democratic establishment's full support of Warnock.

Matt is a past President of the Jewish National Fund for the Southeast and strong supporter of Israel and Jewish causes.

Biography

A graduate of Yale College and Yale Law School, Matt started his career in education. Matt was the founding executive director of the “I Have a Dream” program in New Haven. College scholarships were guaranteed for a group of 56 “Dreamers” -- the whole 4th grade at New Haven’s East Rock Community School.  Matt worked in the school with the kids, their teachers, the administrators, 10 AmeriCorps staff, and over a hundred community mentors and tutors whom he recruited to help prepare the Dreamers to one day take advantage of the scholarship promise.  

After practicing law briefly, Matt returned to education to teach and coach at his old high school in New Haven, Hopkins School. During this time, he took leave first to be a Senior Advisor and national surrogate on the Gore-Lieberman campaign in 2000, and then to play a similar role in 2003-2004 on the Lieberman for President campaign. He advised his father on all campaign matters, raised money, and appeared in front of groups large and small, as well as on local and national media, on behalf of the campaigns. 

In 2005, Matt and his family moved to Atlanta where Matt worked for two years as the Head of School at a 450 student K-8 Jewish Day School where he balanced the budget, improved the quality of instruction, raised admission standards, and opened up new learning and leadership opportunities for girls.

Most important, Matt is the parent of two wonderful daughters: Nesya, who is 26, and Willie, who is 25.  He lives in Manhattan.
