Jack Tretton is a senior strategic operating executive and interactive entertainment industry veteran with multi-billion dollar P&L/fiduciary accountable leadership experience in a highly discretionary consumer product business. Leveraging 19 years of experience at Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc. (SCEA), Jack currently advises large and small companies, investors and management consulting firms, specializing in developing, branding, marketing and selling interactive technology, lifestyle and entertainment consumer products and businesses. He is a Board Director, for Scientific Revenue Inc. in Belmont, CA, an Advisory Board Member, for Lifeapps Digital Media Inc. in San Diego, CA, and an Advisory Board Member, Genotaur in La Jolla, CA. Jack is most known for the success of Sony’s Playstation product line, which he helped grow initially as a member of the founding management team in lead sales roles, and later, as the President and Chief Executive Officer, SCEA for 8 years. He excels in building corporate and brand visibility, (re)creating brands and serving as a primary corporate spokesperson. Jack maintains strong media and industry relationships globally.
From 2006-2014, Jack served as President and CEO, SCEA, as well as Chairman of the Entertainment Software Association. Leading day-to-day operations for SCEA in the Americas (US, Canada, Mexico and Latin America), Jack managed a multi-billion dollar P&L and 1800 employees. He turned around operations with cost cutting and investments, ushering in fiscal responsibility, growth and profitability. Jack drove international competitive positioning and sales successes, introducing and establishing recognized brands across 19 countries, evolving product lines and broadening distribution channels to meet shifting consumer needs and demographics. He created collaborative work environments and a team-based culture at SCEA to drive innovation and performance results.
Over his 19-year career with SCEA, from early sales roles, through leading as CEO, Jack helped move more than 300M in cumulative international product sales and secure 60-70% of total market share at peak levels. He achieved record day one 1M+ unit sales results; continuously improved platform launch sales results with each Playstation release. Jack evolved the product to generate 2:1 sales advantage over SCEA’s nearest competitor and has been recognized, along with his team and SCEA, with top industry association awards.
Prior to SCEA, Jack was General Manager at JVC Musical Industries, a division of Victor Company of Japan, where he started the games division. He also held senior sales management positions at Activision, and worked with Majers Corporation and Duracell Inc.
Jack received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Providence College and started his career on the East Coast. Since 1996, Jack has been based in California, working in the US and abroad. He currently resides in San Carlos, CA, with his family.
