A passionate journalist, Ghida Fakhry started her journalistic career over 25 years ago in London. Based in Washington DC, she is the Host and Managing Editor of Inside America, a weekly program about US politics, and Bigger than Five, a global affairs program on TRT World. Since 2019, she is also the Moderator of the Doha Debates.
Ghida has also been a Huffington Post contributor and a regular moderator of events and panels organized by the UN, the World Bank, the World Economic Forum and other international organizations and global forums.
As New York Bureau Chief for Aljazeera, she covered the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center and its aftermath. She reported on-location from Iraq and Afghanistan following the US-led invasion in 2003, and conducted in-depth interviews with senior US officials, including Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Colin Powell.
Ghida Fakhry has also reported extensively from the United Nations in New York, covering the Security Council and annual sessions of the General Assembly. She travelled with Secretary-General Kofi Annan throughout the Middle East and Africa, and conducted several in-depth interviews with him throughout his 10-year tenure. She also interviewed several Heads of State/Government including Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan, Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran, Shimon Peres of Israel, Muammar Qaddafi of Libya, Evo Morales of Bolivia and Yasser Arafat of Palestine, among others.
More recently, she sat down with Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia; Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda; and former President of South Africa, FW DeKlerk. She also regularly interviews US members of Congress and policy-makers.
Ghida is a British/Lebanese national who earned two Masters degrees from the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London) in the UK and Boston University. She is fluent in English, French; Arabic and is conversational in Spanish.
