Own It! Be The Boss of Your Life- At Home and in the Workplace
On television, Tabatha Coffey is known for using tough love to overhaul failing businesses and help owners take charge of their future. In her talk Own It!, Coffey takes her trademark no-nonsense style and business expertise to small business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs and anyone looking to “own their lives” with the keys to success. Combining her own experiences with those of everyday people who have faced challenging transitions, Own It! helps audiences reach their goals.
Known for her no-nonsense approach and savvy business expertise, Tabatha Coffey has been widely credited for her ability to help struggling businesses and transform people’s lives.
For five seasons on Bravo’s hit show Tabatha Takes Over, Tabatha “took over” hair salons and, later, other small businesses for a week, whipping the owners into shape. With her new Bravo show, Relative Success With Tabatha, the focus is less on “taking over” and more about giving family businesses tools to succeed with minimal hands-on intervention from Tabatha herself. Her role is more of a coach, and in fact she’s actually certified to coach people in life and in business. “To be a really effective coach, I have to help people, support them, give them the tools, give them the ideas … but let them follow through by themselves,” says Tabatha. “Rise to the occasion or not, but really take accountability and responsibility for themselves.”
In addition to saving troubled businesses, Tabatha is also an author and entrepreneur. Tabatha’s memoir, It’s Not Really About the Hair: The Honest Truth About Life, Love, and the Business of Beauty (2011; Harper Collins/It Books) was a huge success and sold out in multiple cities during her national book tour. Her second book, OWN IT! Be the Boss of Your Life – at Home and in the Workplace, was released in 2014 by It Books. With her characteristic savvy expertise and straightforward advice, she teaches readers that the secret of success is taking charge – of your priorities, your future, and your life. Her blunt but rock-solid wisdom provides tips for every aspect of business –from entrepreneurship, to customer service, to management – as well as on the home front, to help people seeking to balance their family lives with their careers.
Outside of her Bravo shows, Tabatha expanded her television presence to include a recurring guest co-hosting role on the CBS daytime series, The Talk. She’s also shone on the red carpet as Award Show Correspondent for TV Guide Channel at the Academy Awards and has appeared as an expert on Fashion Wrap to critique red carpet looks for the Grammy Awards and the Academy Awards. She is also regularly featured as an editorial stylist and contributing writer for fashion and beauty publications such as People Style Watch and PopSugar. While she has made her mark on reality and daytime television, the red carpet, and best-seller lists, Coffey’s “roots” began in the hair industry. From the beginning of her career when she was 14 years old, to training with Vidal Sassoon in London, to her TV debut on Bravo’s Shear Genius (2007), Coffey has devoted her professional life to achieving excellence in hair design and education. She now has a successful line of high-fashion wigs and extensions, LUXHAIR™ HOW™, and is a true entrepreneur.
As a sought after public speaker, Coffey has spoken at national beauty industry shows and major businesses and non-profit events around the world and has presented at awards shows, including numerous GLAAD Media Awards and Human Rights Commission events. Coffey’s accolades include being voted “Most Addictive Reality Star” by fans at the LOGO Network’s Fourth Annual NewNowNext Awards.
Tabatha regularly travels around the world to educate stylists and also works closely to help create the incredible hairstyles featured in advertising and trend collection imagery. Over the last three decades, Coffey has worked with a veritable who’s-who of the industry in Australia, Great Britain, and the United States.
