Biography

Super Bowl 56 Winner, Matthew Stafford, is the quarterback for the LA Rams. Matthew played college football at the University of Georgia, where he was a first-team All-American and was selected first overall by the Detroit Lions in the 2009 NFL Draft.  Matthew played for the Detroit Lions from 2009 to 2020. During his time with the Lions he had a breakout season in 2011 where he became the fourth NFL quarterback to throw over 5,000 yards in a single season, while leading the Lions to their first playoff appearance since 1999. He led Detroit to two further postseason runs in 2014 and 2016, earning Pro Bowl honors in 2014 and setting NFL season record for most comeback wins in 2016.

On March 18th, 2021 Matthew was traded to the LA Rams. He made his debut with his new team during Sunday Night Football against the Chicago Bears. Throughout the season the Rams continuously had success which lead Matthew to earn the NFC Offensive Player of the Week honor twice. In the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, Matthew received his first postseason victory with the Rams against the Arizona Cardinals. This brought the team to the NFC Championship, which was a first for Matthew. The Rams took down the San Francisco 49ers and it was time to play the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI. Matthew led the Rams to a victory on their home field with a final score of 23-20 and his first ever Super Bowl win.
