Coined: The Rich Life of Money and How Its History Has Shaped Us
Kabir Sehgal traveled to over twenty-five countries over four years to research the role of money in society, and how it shapes our lives in often imperceptible ways. He casts aside our workaday assumptions about money and takes the audience on a global quest, from the Galapagos Islands to the Mongolian Steppes, to uncover a deeper understanding of the relationship between money and humankind. In Coined: The Rich Life of Money And How Its History Has Shaped Us, he presents on the origins and evolution of money by examining it through the multiple lenses of disciplines as varied as biology, psychology, anthropology, theology, history and economics. In his book and during talks, his presentation is grounded in current academic research while using entertaining stories accumulated from the frontlines of emerging market investing.

Civil Rights and My Relationship with Ambassador Andrew Young
Kabir Sehgal is the godson of Andrew Young who was the top aide to Martin Luther King, Jr. During the civil rights movement, Ambassador Andrew Young worked tirelessly as a strategist and negotiator during the campaigns that resulted in the passage of the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act, and was at Martin Luther King, Jr.’s side when he was assassinated. For years, in correspondence and conversation, he has been mentoring his godson, Kabir Sehgal. They published a book together entitled Walk in My Shoes with a foreword by Bill Clinton.
In this speech, Kabir recounts the lessons learned from "Uncle Andy" on a range of topics, and adapts lessons from the civil rights movement for a younger generation. A sample of questions that Kabir addresses:

Kabir Sehgal was a vice president in emerging market equities at J. P. Morgan in New York. He serves as an officer in the United States Navy Reserve, served as a speechwriter on a presidential campaign, and is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
He is the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of books including Coined, Walk in My Shoes (with Andrew Young), A Bucket of Blessings, and Jazzocracy.
A Grammy-winning producer who has performed with Grammy-winning musicians as a jazz bassist, he co-founded an arts organization which merged with the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance.
Sehgal is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the London School of Economics. He is a diehard Atlanta Braves fan.
