Dr. DAMBISA MOYO set the tone for a new era during her speech at the House of Lords debate on energy, the environment, and housing. Dr. Moyo cautioned that new and enormous energy demand from AI data centers, mining cryptocurrency, and reshoring threaten the clean energy transition by constraining energy grids, creating volatility in energy and capital markets. Dr. Moyo explained, “There is now the promise of two super cycles that could propel an era of stronger economic growth… generative artificial intelligence and the clean energy transition.”

Chevron and Condé Nast Board Member Dr. DAMBISA MOYO has taken over the news with her perspectives on labor, geopolitics, and AI. Dr. Moyo joined Diligent to discuss the way boards evaluate and prioritize geopolitical risks during an election year. She also penned an article for Project Syndicate on how governments and businesses can work together to ensure the “AI Super Cycle” drives human-first results. Dr. Moyo writes, “We must reflect on AI’s effect on inequality both within countries – between capital and labor – and among countries. A widening gap between technology leaders, such as the US and China, and the rest of the world – particularly the poorest economies – bodes ill for an already-fraught geopolitical environment.”

Dambisa is a member of the United Kingdom’s House of Lords. She is a principal of Versaca Investments - a
