The Honorable Bud Albright has a distinguished record of government service as a veteran of the last three Republican Administrations. His experience leading energy and environment programs, and leading legislative policy at the federal level in telecommunications, energy, environment, and health industries, leading investigations and oversight for criminal activity, as well as shepherding foreign and domestic policy implementation is nearly unparalleled in Washington.
Over the last 30 years Albright has held numerous senior-level federal government positions. He served as Under Secretary at the Department of Energy, Deputy General Counsel at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Deputy Associate Attorney General at the Department of Justice, Staff Director for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and as Associate Counsel to the Select Committee of Secret Military Assistance to Iran and the Nicaraguan Opposition. He also served for six years as an Assistant United States Attorney and worked on the Senate Judiciary Committee during law school. Through all of these positions Albright has developed a keen understanding of how the political and the policy elements of Washington intersect.
As a widely respected policy expert, Albright currently provides advice and counsel to some of the top corporations and trade associations in the United States. His guidance on government affairs advocacy and political strategy, as well as on crisis communications, is highly valued. Moreover, his involvement in the legislative process in both the House and Senate, as well with regulators within Federal Agencies, has led to numerous legislative and policy successes over the years. His experience, bolstered by his legal and political understanding of government oversight and investigations, provides clients with access to the depth of knowledge needed to create a successful Washington strategy.
Most recently, Albright served as Senior Vice President for Policy and Government Affairs for CenterPoint Energy. In this capacity, he established a positive presence for the corporation in Washington among legislators and regulators, as well as successfully developed its government relations strategies and initiatives. Previously in his private-sector career, Albright led the Washington operations for Reliant Energy, and lobbied for the Mortgage Bankers Association.
A native of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Albright holds an undergraduate degree in history and political science from Presbyterian College and a law degree from George Mason University School of Law. Albright, his wife, and their two children live in McLean, Virginia.
