Billy Ray Cyrus occupies an unprecedented position in our collective cultural history. From Achy Breaky Heart to Hannah Montana and now Old Town Road, Billy Ray stands at the center of several cultural phenomenons spanning three decades. He’s gone from nothing (growing up in poverty in Flatwoods, Kentucky) to living the life of his dreams. Global Super Star of film, television and music, Billy has seen it all, and he knows what it’s like to grapple with the pressures of unimaginable success, and disappointing failure. And he’s excited to share all the many hard-learned lessons he’s picked up along the way.
Cyrus exploded onto the music scene in 1992 when his first album, Some Gave All, debuted on the Billboard Chart at No. 1 and stayed there for a record-breaking 17 weeks. The lead single, “Achy Breaky Heart,” took the world by storm and went multi-platinum. In between world tours, BR raised six kids (including megastar Miley and Grammy nominated Noah). In 2006 when Miley landed Hannah Montana, BR also auditioned for the show and became “Robbie Ray,” Hannah’s Dad. The series became one of the most successful Disney shows of all time and introduced Billy to a whole new generation as a charming songwriter and funny father figure.
In 2019, Billy Ray topped the charts again with Lil Nas X’s genre-bending track Old Town Road, which became the longest-running number 1 hit in Billboard Hot 100 history, spending 19 consecutive weeks at the top spot. American Songwriter lauded Cyrus’s recent EP The Singin’ Hills Sessions Vol. 1 Sunset saying it "gets to the heart of the art of music." Taste of Country called the focus track, "I Am… I Said" " a sensitive, emotional reading of the song.” Cyrus has achieved every accolade the music industry has to offer, including two GRAMMY® Awards, two BET Hip Hop Awards, two MTV VMA Moonmen, two Country Music Association Awards, an American Music Award and seven Academy of Country Music nominations. Reinvigorated and ready to speak his truth, BR is ready to take on the world and make 2021 his best year yet.
