Joy Behar

  • Acclaimed Comedienne
  • Co-Host of ABC’s The View and Host of TLC’s Late Night Joy

Joy Behar’s type of funny is not produced or edited, it just is part of who she is.   The hilarious personality you see on TV is the same one that shows up at your event to entertain your audience. She layers her comedy with her motivational story of persistent hard work, the belief in second chances in work and in love, and the value of being open to opportunity.  Joy is a fantastic celebrity choice for a motivational keynote speech, a hilarious Q&A, or emcee role for a fundraiser.

Today Joy Behar appears in millions of households as the hilarious Co-Host of the popular daytime talk show The View and host TLC’s Late Night Joy, a cross between a traditional late night show and a reality show.  But before she headlined those shows, Joy was a high school English teacher and single-mother with bills to pay who swallowed her fear, trusted her talent, and slogged her way up the late night comedy club circuit.  She took a day job as a receptionist at Good Morning America and made the most of an opportunity with Steve Allen, and then made the most of the next opportunity, and the next…and she keeps working hard to make us laugh. In this speech, Joy shares her motivational message and uplifting personal story.

Biography

Today Joy Behar appears in millions of households as the hilarious Co-Host of the popular daytime talk show The View and Host of TLC’s Late Night Joy, a cross between a traditional late night show and a reality show.

The View,  recipient of the 2003 Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Talk Show" is the original forum where real women discuss relevant, everyday issues  and share their daily, no-holds-barred opinions and lively, colorful  conversations. The View has received 16 Daytime Emmy Awards  and has been nominated each year for “Outstanding Talk Show” and  for Ms. Behar and her co-hosts as “Outstanding Talk Show Host.”

Armed with an M.A. in English  education from S.U.N.Y. at Stony Brook, Ms. Behar originally began a  career in teaching. She then set out to pursue comedy professionally  and immediately received bookings from such famous New York clubs as  Caroline’s and Catch a Rising Star. Ms. Behar went on to win three  MAC awards and a CableACE Award.

On television she starred in  her own HBO special and was a regular on the series Baby Boom.  Other appearances include the voice of a hilariously neurotic patient  on Dr. Katz, which won the CableACE Award, The Tonight Show  with Jay Leno, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Live with Regis and  Kelly, The Late Show With David Letterman and last summer Ms. Behar  was one of the “kinder” judges on the Jay Mohr reality series Last Comic Standing.
