Ghida Fakhry is an international broadcast journalist with over 20 years experience as a news anchor and correspondent for multiple news organizations. She is a NY-based Contributor to the Huffington Post, writing regularly on US foreign policy and international affairs.
She previously served as Senior News and Programs Presenter for the global channel, Aljazeera English. As one of the network's primary anchors, Ghida was a regular presenter of the flagship program, the Newshour, and the current affairs program, Inside Story. She was also Host of the award-winning documentary program, Witness. As Lead Anchor for AJE's Washington DC broadcast center, she co-anchored the network's 12-hour live coverage of the US presidential elections. She also reported extensively from the UN headquarters in New York and conducted sit-down interviews with the Secretary-General and numerous Heads of State and Government, including Muammar Qaddafi, Hamid Karzai and Shimon Peres among others. She has also reported on-location from Iraq and Afghanistan and interviewed top US officials, including the Secretaries of State and Defense.
Ghida Fakhry is a frequent moderator of high-level conferences and panels organized by the World Bank, the United Nations, NGOs, governments and major corporations on global issues ranging from sustainable development and climate change to human rights, peace and security and women's empowerment. She holds an MA degree in International Relations and an MA degree in Near and Middle Eastern Studies. She is fluent in English, French and Arabic and is conversational in Spanish.
