Documenting the American Experience Ken Burns has been making documentary films for more than twenty years and is the creator, director and producer of numerous award-winning documentaries, including Jazz, Civil War and Baseball series. His works are among the most watched series in PBS history, having attracted more than 45 million viewers a piece. Among critical acclaim, Mr. Burns’ work earned him four Emmy Awards, two Grammy Awards, the Clarion Award, The Television Critic’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sports and Special Programming, Producer of the Year Award from the Producer's Guild, People's Choice Award, Peabody Award, and others. His latest work, The War, retells the story of WWII through the intimate lens of over 40 servicemen and women.
