Senator John Edwards Elizabeth Edwards Senator Fred Thompson Karl Rove Dee Dee Myers Senator Rick Santorum

Senator Edwards at CTIA Wireless 2008Will Senator John Edwards do for poverty what Al Gore did for climate change? Applauding Vice President Gore's work outside of Washington, Senator Edwards has a mission of his own: tackling poverty in the U.S. and abroad. Jointly interviewed with Mrs. Edwards for an article published Monday in the U.K’s Daily Mirror, Senator Edwards says: “We must cooperate with other nations. The world has shifted. The dangers are much less nation state against nation state. They are extreme poverty, climate change, access to water, the spread of disease.” Mrs. Edwards adds, “There's talk of a poverty czar. Poverty has so many aspects - health, housing, education, jobs, - that cross different government departments, it’s difficult for one person to handle. It's a Cabinet responsibility. And, with 37 million Americans below the poverty line, it's an urgent one.” Elizabeth Edwards also continues to promote affordable healthcare for American families, recently appearing on MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann to discuss the candidates and analyze their healthcare plans. (View video!) In addition to solo events, Mr. and Mrs. Edwards are available for joint appearances.

Senator Thompson at CTIA Wireless 2008

In heavy demand not only for his views on the candidates and their campaigns, but for his fascinating perspective on the future of America, Senator Fred Thompson recently teamed up with Senator John Edwards for CTIA - The Wireless Association’s event, to speak about the ways in which technology has impacted the electoral process.  As a point-counterpoint program for the Jewish Federation of Chicago, our sponsor reported the duo was a good draw and we had an excellent turnout for the event because of them.” Additionally, Senator Thompson is scheduled to speak for Frank McKenna's Annual Business Networking Event, Hillsdale College, Gases and Welding Distributors Association and Wesley Enhanced Living, among others. Captivating at the podium and on-screen, Senator Thompson is resuming his acting career in film and television.  He has portrayed New York District Attorney Arthur Branch on the Emmy Award-winning NBC drama, Law & Order, and has appeared in more than 20 films including No Way Out, In the Line of Fire, and The Hunt for Red October.

Karl Rove with HWA staffKarl Rove made a surprise visit to the HWA on Tuesday, handing out ice cream treats to everyone in the office before heading over to the Fox News headquarters to provide election commentary. Mr. Rove is a frequent guest on Fox, analyzing the heated Democratic debate last week on The O’Reilly Factor (View video!) and appearing Tuesday evening on Fox News Election headquarters to comment on the Pennsylvania primary.  (View video!) Mr. Rove will be teaming up with John Edwards for lively debates this fall for the Young Presidents' Organization in St. Louis, Mortgage Bankers Association of America and Commercial Finance Association.

Dee Dee Myers

Who better to provide analysis of the Pennsylvania primary than the former Senator for the state, Rick Santorum?  He appeared on Hannity & Colmes Tuesday night and Fox & Friends Wednesday morning (View video!) to give his seasoned understanding of the state’s constituents and the reasoning behind their votes.

Ladies of Liberty

With the popularity of the recent HBO miniseries, John Adams and the ongoing interest in America’s Founding Fathers, Cokie Roberts’ new book, Ladies of Liberty debuted at #4 on The New York Times Bestseller List this week! Ladies of Liberty takes the reader from the election of John Adams in 1796 to the election of Andrew Jackson in 1828, and profiles Abigail Smith Adams, among other notable and remarkable women from this time period. Ms. Roberts is hopeful this book will find its way into the classroom like Founding Mothers did. “Part of the reason is that it is interesting to read history, history is fascinating. It is gossip,” she says. “History text book writers (though) should be taken out and shot,” she laughs. “They squeeze out all the juice and make it boring.” Cokie is also available for joint appearances with her husband, Steve Roberts.

Consummate moderator Charlie Rose presided over a Q&A session last week with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for an audience of business and civic leaders. Whether he is moderating a panel or giving a speech, Mr. Rose receives rave reviews: “Your talk was both entertaining and informative and your delivery managed to spin seemingly disparate events into a common thread, which you then wove into a rich narrative fabric. It was a pleasure to meet the man whose interviews are so thoughtful and thoroughly researched.” (Jan Degenshein Architects & Planners)

“Our event with Bob Woodward was fabulous!! We were able to fill our nearly 600 seat auditorium, with about 80 guests in overflow areas. Not bad for a weekday morning. Mr. Woodward was personal and engaging, fast on his feet and connected well with each of our audiences - a real pro!” We received this terrific feedback from Bob Woodward’s recent event at Wayne State University’s Forum on Contemporary Issues in Society, where Mr. Woodward spoke to a crowded auditorium about the harm resulting from government secrecy: “Democracies die in darkness. Presidents come and go, governments come and go, but if they operate outside of the daylight – we’re not going to know and we’re going to lose the democracy that we have,” Woodward said. “It is the job of the press to do independent and aggressive examination on what is really happening.”

MSNBC contributor and journalist Ron Reagan provided the Independents’ perspective on the PA primary on Larry King Live Tuesday night. View a video clip of his compelling commentary.  Mr. Reagan has been a frequent guest this political season on Larry King Live, as well as for Air America Radio.

ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Martha Raddatz reports on all aspects of the Bush administration for World News with Charles Gibson, Nightline, Good Morning America and other ABC News broadcasts. She is also a frequent traveler to Iraq, having been there more than a dozen times in the last four years, with most of her time spent embedded with US forces. We received fantastic feedback from her recent event with the Mayor's Commission on the Status of Women in San Antonio: “Martha Raddatz thrilled the crowd with her unbiased and forthright knowledge of the status of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Mayor enjoyed her speech very much, and when my boss is happy - I'm happy!"

I look forward to speaking with you soon about scheduling one or more of these phenomenal speakers for your next program.
