With the popularity of the recent HBO miniseries, John Adams and the ongoing interest in America’s Founding Fathers, Cokie Roberts’ new book, Ladies of Liberty debuted at #4 on The New York Times Bestseller List this week! Ladies of Liberty takes the reader from the election of John Adams in 1796 to the election of Andrew Jackson in 1828, and profiles Abigail Smith Adams, among other notable and remarkable women from this time period. Ms. Roberts is hopeful this book will find its way into the classroom like Founding Mothers did. “Part of the reason is that it is interesting to read history, history is fascinating. It is gossip,” she says. “History text book writers (though) should be taken out and shot,” she laughs. “They squeeze out all the juice and make it boring.” Cokie is also available for joint appearances with her husband, Steve Roberts.

ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Martha Raddatz reports on all aspects of the Bush administration for World News with Charles Gibson, Nightline, Good Morning America and other ABC News broadcasts. She is also a frequent traveler to Iraq, having been there more than a dozen times in the last four years, with most of her time spent embedded with US forces.
