The Weakening Dollar, the Mortgage Crisis, the Stunning Collapse of Bear Stearns… How and When Will the U.S. Economy Rebound?

Summers
In recent days the media have been reaching out to former Secretary of Treasury Larry Summers for his commentary on the Bear Stearns buyout. Secretary Summers has said that the takeover is “as dramatic an episode for the U.S. financial system as we’ve had” since the stock market crash of 1987. With over 30 engagments scheduled for the coming months, including Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch, American Express, and Citigroup, Secretary Summers brings tremendous knowledge to these economic issues. When he spoke for Texas Pacific Group's Economic Roundtable our client wrote: "You provided us with some interesting insights into the direction of the U.S. economy ... a rigorous discussion of these issues is critical in helping us refine our investment strategy."

ForbesSteve Forbes was interviewed on FOXBusiness yesterday to address the Federal Reserve's decision to cut interest rates once again. (View Clip) In this month's issue of Forbes magazine he states that we are in for the biggest bout of inflation we've seen since Jimmy Carter's administration. But what can be done about it? He recently said that, "It all boils down to when you spill something, you soak it up. The Fed could sell bonds that remove excess money from the economy. The Bush administration could work with the G-7 (European countries) to do exchange operations, buying dollars to shore that up. Our allies would be quite willing to do it. They find the fall of the dollar very disturbing, very disruptive. So you take positive steps." Mr. Forbes is consistently praised for his ability to explain the complexities of the changing economy with an amazingly clear and very eye opening presentation. Read more client feedback.

TysonAs National Economic Advisor and Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors for President Clinton, Laura D’Andrea Tyson helped to shape a strong American economy during her term of office. Many clients are calling to schedule Dr. Tyson to hear her thoughts on what can be done to reverse this current downturn. Gene Sperling and R. Glenn Hubbard are considered to be two of the nation's top presidential economic advisors, and are often sought after for joint presentations that provide views from both the left and right on the economy. They just spoke for Barclays Bank and last week our client wrote to say: “The event with Hubbard and Sperling went very well. They both brought so much to the table in terms of knowledge, personality and humor. This session was one of our most popular sessions and boded the most questions."
